Dad Of Saylor Hayes Faces Simple Assault Charge After Jail Incident

The sheriff's office couldn't determine who the primary aggressor was, both inmates were charged with misdemeanor simple assault.

The father of Saylor Hayes, the 5-year-old girl who was found in the water after wandering from a home in Pawleys Island, is facing an additional charges.

John Hayes III and his wife, Geordyn, were arrested in Carter County, Tennessee, in connection with Saylor’s disappearance and death. Each is charged with unlawfully placing a child at risk or causing harm or willfully abandoning a child. Both also face a charge of being a fugitive from justice for a crime in another state.

The two were extradited to Georgetown County. There, John is accused of being involved in an assault with another inmate, James Bradley, at the jail. The sheriff’s office couldn’t determine who the primary aggressor was, both John and Bradley were charged with misdemeanor simple assault.
