The filing claims that "the risk of a rooftop shooter should have been especially top-of-mind given the attempted assassination of President Trump."
The family of Charlie Kirk has filed a notice of claim against Utah Valley University.
The notice also names the state and key individuals involved in campus leadership and security decisions. It alleges that their failures led to the Turning Point USA founder’s wrongful death.
The filing claims that “the risk of a rooftop shooter should have been especially top-of-mind given the attempted assassination of President Trump.” Adding, Trump was one of Kirk’s closest friends and political allies.”
Turning Point USA organizers reportedly told police that students informed them of rooftop access. They reportedly asked for security to control that and were told that would be the case.
The university said it is aware of the notice of claim and that it will address legal matters consistent with their established processes.
The file claims that several failures put Kirk’s life in danger and led to the 31-year-old’s assassination.
