Victim Of Fatal Horry Co. Motorcycle Crash Remembered

Broderick was identified as a former New York City homicide detective who responded following the 9/11 attacks in 2001.

The victim of a fatal motorcycle crash in Horry County is being remembered.

The accident happened on Saturday night along Highway 707 near Longwood Drive in the Burgess area. 57-year-old Denis Broderick was traveling south on a Harley-Davidson when he struck a curb and was ejected from the bike. He was taken to a hospital where he died the next morning.

Broderick was identified as a former New York City homicide detective who responded following the 9/11 attacks in 2001. He reportedly solved many cases and later continued serving the Grand Strand.

Broderick was a member of the Myrtle Beach NYPD 10-13 Club that includes retired members of the New York City Police Department and its former housing and transit divisions.

Broderick also served as vice president of the South Carolina chapter of the Vigilance Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club. He was described as a devoted family man, dependable friend, and had a “larger than life” presence.
