Why Dads Always Seem to Sneeze Really Loud

Turns out, there may actually be a reason for the infamous “dad sneeze.” 

If your dad’s sneeze has ever made you jump, scared the dog or possibly rattled a nearby window, you’re definitely not alone. Turns out, there may actually be a reason for the infamous “dad sneeze.”

Experts say men may have some biological advantages in the loud-sneeze department, including larger lungs and airways that can create a more forceful blast. But, biology isn’t the whole story…people can somewhat control how loudly they sneeze, and social norms may make men more comfortable just letting it rip.

Psychologists say women are often conditioned from a young age to be quieter and more discreet, while men may feel less pressure to contain themselves. Several dads basically admitted they could sneeze more quietly but prefer not to.
