Robeson Co. Joins N.C. ‘Booze It & Lose It’ Campaign

The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office is joining agencies across North Carolina for a campaign.

The North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program’s annual ‘Booze It & Lose It’ campaign runs through Sept. 13. It began in 1994 and combines public awareness efforts with increased law enforcement to discourage impaired driving and reduce crashes and deaths.

During the campaign, law enforcement agencies will conduct increased patrols and other enforcement efforts, targeting drivers impaired by alcohol or drugs. The campaign comes as impaired driving continues to contribute to hundreds of deaths on state roads.

Robeson County is one of nine in the Tar Heel State with a dedicated DWI task force staffed by officers specially trained to identify and arrest impaired drivers. It’s urging motorists to make arrangements for a sober ride rather than getting behind the wheel.
