Body Found Near Highway 501 Identified As 18-Year-Old

18-year-old Thomas French's body was found in the 1000 block of Highway 501 on Aug. 8. He did not have any form of identification on him.

The body that was found near Highway 501 in Myrtle Beach earlier this month has been identified.

18-year-old Thomas French’s body was found in the 1000 block of Highway 501 on Aug. 8. He did not have any form of identification, a phone, or any other identifying belongings or tattoos.

Investigators searched local, state, and federal databases but were not able to identify him until the public was asked for help.

French was reportedly moving from Florida to Boston when he was met with “some unfortunate circumstances” that led him to Myrtle Beach for what was intended to be a brief stay.

French’s cause of death has not been determined. Authorities are continuing to investigate.
