Trahan, John William

John William Trahan, age 74 of Linden, formerly of Laurinburg, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2011 at Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital in Dunn. John was born January 17, 1937 in Mobile, Alabama, son of the late Al Trahan and Margaret Hall Trahan. He was a proud United States Marine Corp Veteran that served in the Korean Conflict. He worked in textile for Waverly Mills and retired from L.O.F. /Pilkington Glass. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing. He is survived by his wife, Esther Mae Powell Trahan of Linden, son, Johnny Alan Trahan of Linden, daughters, Rhonda “Lynn” Clemmons and husband Larry of Laurinburg, Wanda Whitford and husband Jesse of Linden; sister, Helen Welsh of Alabama; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, John was also preceded in death by a brother, Jim Tarhan. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 28th in the family home at 17281 Jackson Street, Laurinburg. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Rev. Luther Powell. A private interment will be held at a later date.
