Frederick Chambers Appointed As Myrtle Beach Police Chief

“I am deeply privileged to join the Myrtle Beach Police Department and work alongside the dedicated men and women who serve this community every day,” Chambers said.

The Myrtle Beach Police Department has announced its new police chief.

Frederick Chambers will now lead the city’s department. His appointment follows a national selection process that included internal and external candidates, interviews, a public meet-and-greet, as well as input from residents, officers and city staff.

Chambers brings over 26 years of law enforcement experience. He currently serves as a deputy chief of police for a Virginia police department. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps and as a uniformed police officer with the U.S. Secret Service.

“I am deeply privileged to join the Myrtle Beach Police Department and work alongside the dedicated men and women who serve this community every day,” Chambers said. He is expected to start in late September or early October.
