Second Lawsuit Against Church That Allowed Sex Offender Volunteer
The new complaint alleges the church and school knew of Perry's background and continued giving him access to children.
Another lawsuit has been filed against the Pawleys Island Community Church and Pawleys Island Christian Academy.
The new lawsuit alleges a child was sexually abused by registered sex offender Warren Perry after church and school leaders knowingly allowed him to volunteer on the campus.
The new complaint alleges the church and school knew of Perry’s background and continued giving him access to children. It further claims the family reported abuse to school leadership in 2022 but their concerns were ignored.
The filing comes after Perry was denied bond. It also comes after former church pastor Don Williams and former academy director Jennifer Howard were granted a $75,000 bond in connection to the case. Former church administrator Ginny Williams was also charged granted a $50,000 bond.
The lawsuit marks the second filed against the church in less than a week.
