Scott, Cleadis

Mrs. Cleadis Locklear Scott of Maxton departed this life on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the age of 72. Cleadis was born December 3, 1938 in Robeson County, daughter of the late Noah and Mary Strickland Locklear. She was the beloved wife of 31 years to the late Alexander Scott. She retired from the Eaton Corporation after many years of dedicated service. She served as a longtime faithful member of Mt. Hebron Freewill Holiness Church. Cleadis loved being outside in her flowers and gardening and she also enjoyed fishing. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by sisters, Judy Locklear, Beulah Locklear, Virginia Clark, brother, Bobby Locklear and her son-in-law, Ray Kellogg. Cleadis is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Scott and husband Michael of the home, Shirley Scott of the home; Freida Scott and husband Steve of Rowland, Lori Hunt and husband Willie, Lessie Locklear and husband Pernell, Della Locklear and husband Henry, Tammy Kellogg all of Maxton, Mandy “Maggie” Locklear of Pembroke, Zula “Dab” Jones and husband Johnny of Spartanburg, SC, her sons, Bracey Scott and wife Ethel, Alex “June” Scott, Jr., and wife Eula of Maxton; 31 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren, 26 great-great grandchildren, a special family friend, Kiem Jones, and a host of family and friends. Visitation will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23rd at Richard Boles Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Mt. Hebron Freewill Holiness Church with burial follow in the Leith Creek Church Cemetery. Rev. David Hunt, Rev. Chester Chavis and Rev. Gene Allen Brayboy will officiate the services.
