Want, Sadie
Mrs. Sadie Want, widow of Judge LeRoy M. Want, died on Friday, February 18. Born in Walterboro, June 4, 1916, Mrs. Want, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Bogoslow, graduated from the Walterboro High School and attended American University in Washington, D.C. and the University of South Carolina. A long time resident of Darlington, she was involved in many civic and community activities there. She was Darlington correspondent to the state’s newspapers during the 1950s and 1960s, then served in the Information Office of the Darlington school district. She moved to Charleston in 1988 where she was a member of Congregation Beth Elohim. She previously lived in Charleston from 1938 to 1942 where her husband was a reporter for the News and Courier. She is survived by her son Robert S. Want, her son William L. Want and his wife Sharon Bennett, and a grandson William B. Want, all of Charleston. She was predeceased by a brother, Isadore Bogoslow of Walterboro, and a sister, Sylvia Savitz of Columbia. A graveside service will be held Monday, February 21 at 11:00 a.m. at Grove Hill Cemetery in Darlington. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Kistler Funeral Home on the evening prior to the services on Sunday, February 20. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Pee Dee Land Trust.
