Singletary, Joseph Lane

SCRANTON: Mr. Joseph Lane “Joe” Singletary, 75, passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2011, at Carolinas Hospital, Florence, SC. Mr. Singletary was born on January 3, 1936, in the Friendfield Community of Florence County, a son of the late Archie and Katherine Lane Singletary. He was an active member of Hebron Baptist Church and the Hebron Baptist Church Disaster Relief Team. After retiring from South Carolina Electric and Gas of West Columbia, he moved back home where he was a full-time farmer. Mr. Singletary was a veteran of the United States Navy where he was awarded the national defense medal. Surviving Include: His wife, Tish Singletary of the home; one daughter, Emily Jo (Gregg) Kyzer of Leesville, SC; two sons, Joseph Lane Singletary, II, of Hartsville and Andy (Susan) Rodgers of Scranton; five grandchildren, Stefan Singletary, Jason Price, Josh Rodgers, Katelyn Rodgers and Hailey Rodgers; one great-grandson, Aven Price; and one brother, DeLeon (Lib) Singletary of Ladson, SC. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 19, 2011, at Hebron Baptist Church, Friendfield Community, with burial to follow in the church cemetery, directed by Carolina Funeral Home, Scranton. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M. Friday, February 18th, at Carolina Funeral Home, 215 E. Highway 378 ByPass, Scranton.
