Wanted Man Out Of Georgetown Co. Has Been Detained
Murphy has since been arrested and will now face additional charges of hindering and driving under suspension in Georgetown County.
A wanted man who was considered “dangerous” has been taken into custody.
53-year-old Charles Murphy of Scranton was wanted on burglary warrants out of Florence County. He was wanted out of Georgetown County after police attempted a traffic stop along Highway 701 near Walmart.
Murphy and his companion, Krystal Johnson, were able to break free from deputies prompting a high-speed chase. When the pair reached Pringle Ferry Landing, they abandoned the vehicle and jumped into a body of water. Johnson was detained quickly, but Murphy was able to reach the other side of the water and escaped.
Murphy has since been apprehended and will now face additional charges of hindering and driving under suspension in Georgetown County. Johnson, who also had a Florence County burglary warrant, faces an additional charge of failure to stop for blue lights.
