Georgetown Co. Police Search For “Dangerous” Wanted Man

53-year-old Charles Murphy of Scranton is considered dangerous and should not be approached. Anybody with information is urged to contact authorities.

Georgetown County police and South Carolina DNR officers are searching for a wanted man.

53-year-old Charles Murphy of Scranton has multiple warrants out of Florence County. He is currently wanted in Georgetown County for running from the police after he fled from a traffic stop along Highway 701.

While deputies attempted to take him into custody, Murphy and his companion, Krystal Johnson, broke free prompting a high-speed chase. The pair went on to abandon their vehicle on Pringle Ferry Landing, jumping into the nearby body of water.

Johnson also had a burglary warrant and was quickly detained. However, Murphy made it to the other side of the body of water and continued to run on foot. He is considered dangerous and should not be approached. Anybody with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact authorities.
