Waymo Recalls Nearly 4,000 Robotaxis
The latest recall covers the robotaxis that will each need to have their software updated in order to continue operating on freeways.
Waymo has been forced to recall nearly 4,000 robotaxis.
The recall was placed due to a software glitch that could cause vehicles to drive into construction sites. It comes just a month after Waymo, which is owned by Google’s parent company Alphabet, was forced to pause operations in four U.S. cities due to the driverless electric taxis struggling with heavy rain and large puddles.
The latest recall covers the robotaxis that will each need to have their software updated in order to continue operating on freeways. There have been 13 instances in which Waymos have driven into construction areas on freeways across several cities. The situation is considered a danger and marks the sixth recall for Waymo’s robotaxis.
