Israel Strikes Against Hezbollah Impacts Iran And U.S. Deal

Renewed fighting between Israel and Hezbollah is testing a preliminary deal between the U.S. and Iran.

Iran has made a ceasefire in Lebanon, where Hezbollah is based, a priority condition to continue talks with the U.S., and a planned meeting in Switzerland between Iranian officials and Vice President JD Vance that was set for Friday has been postponed.

The changes come after Israel said it retaliated against rocket fire and drone strikes by Hezbollah that violated the ceasefire agreement agreed by the U.S. and Iran.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel will not tolerate attacks on their soldiers or territory. The strikes have delayed the planned talks that the U.S. and Iran were set to have to move forward with a memorandum of understanding that was signed earlier this week.
