Trump Plans To Nominate Todd Blanche To Permanently Lead DOJ

The president said he is not actively considering other candidates and praised Blanche's performance since taking over the role.

President Trump announced plans to nominate acting Attorney General Todd Blanche to permanently lead the Department of Justice.

Blanche assumed the role on an interim basis following former Attorney General Pam Bondi’s firing in early April.

The president said he is not actively considering other candidates and praised Blanche’s performance since taking over the role.

If nominated, Blanche would need to be confirmed by the Senate. He was confirmed as the Justice Department’s second-in-command in 2025 by a party-line vote of 52-46.
