McCormick, Maryann Margaret
Maryann Margaret McCormick, age 74, passed away Monday, February 14, 2011 at her residence. Maryann was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 29, 1936 to Zelma and Charles Dickey. She spent her youth in Toledo attending M.R. Waite High School where she served as editor of the school paper, Junior Class Secretary and Senior Class Vice President. She served as a member of the Toledo Schools radio station for two years hosted a program titled, Youth Views the News. She attended Ohio State University and received a B.S. in Education in 1960. While at OSU, she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority, served on the student senate and was a class officer during her senior year. She earned her Masters Degree in Counseling from the University of Toledo in 1963. She married Thomas McCormick in 1962. During their marriage, they were transferred 14 times to various locations throughout the country. After retiring to the Pinehurst area, Maryann was employed by FirstHealth of the Carolinas as a Coordinator for Behavioral Services and as Director of Development Marketing. She later served as the Executive Director of Drug Free Moore County. She is survived by her husband Thomas McCormick; a son Michael McCormick; daughter-in-law Jennifer; three grandsons Conner, Ian and Braydon all of Harrisburg, PA; also a brother Bruce Dickey and a sister-in-law Barbara of Toledo, OH.
