Matcha Might Help Tame Sneezing

If spring allergies have you sneezing like it’s your full-time job, your daily matcha might be doing more than just making you feel trendy. According to new research, that bright green drink could actually help quiet your nose.
A recent study found that matcha reduced sneezing in mice exposed to allergens, but interestingly, it didn’t change the underlying allergic reaction itself.
Instead, it appeared to work on the brain—basically dialing down the sneeze reflex like a volume knob rather than fixing the root cause. Compounds in matcha, like catechins and quercetin, may also have mild antihistamine effects, though the exact mechanism is still being studied. The catch? The mice got much higher doses than your average latte, and scientists say more human research is needed—so for now, matcha is more of a “nice bonus” than a miracle cure
