A former Fort Bragg employee has been accused of leaking classified military information to a journalist.

40-year-old Courtney Williams, an Army veteran assigned to a Special Military Unit at the North Carolina Fort, had top-secret clearance. She was arrested by the FBI and charged with unlawfully transmitting national defense information. The information included classified tactics used in covert missions. It was shared to an investigative reporter over a period spanning several years.

The information leaked included phone calls, text messages, as well as documents and materials that were later published by the journalist in an article and a book identifying Williams as the source. An investigation remains underway.
