This Boring Habit Might be the Key to Losing Pounds
The secret to losing weight might not be trendy, exciting, or even particularly tasty.
Turns out the secret to losing weight might not be trendy, exciting, or even particularly tasty. In fact, a new study suggests the most effective habit is also the most boring…eating the same things over and over again.
A recent study published in Health Psychology found that people who stick to repetitive meals tend to lose more weight than those who frequently change foods. Researchers tracked participants over 12 weeks and discovered that those with consistent diets lost about 5.9% of their body weight, compared to 4.3% for those with more variety. The key seems to be consistency—keeping calorie intake steady and reducing daily decision-making around food. Eating the same meals regularly can help build habits, simplify tracking, and reduce the temptation to reach for unhealthy, ultra-processed options.
