LAKE CITY: Mrs. Julia Pye Floyd died Sunday, February 13th, 2011 in the Lake City – Scranton Health Center in Scranton. Mrs. Floyd was born September 10th, 1918 in Wilmington, North Carolina, daughter of Marvin Dean Pye, Sr. and Eloise Sturgeon Pye. Mrs. Floyd graduated from Lake City High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree form Winthrop College. She served as a teacher in the Florence County School District No. 3 until her retirement. Mrs. Floyd was a member of the Lake City First Baptist Church. Mrs. Floyd is survived by her two sons, David Randolph Floyd and his wife, Cheryl, of Lake City, and Ebert Erwin Floyd, Jr., and his wife, Elaine, of Lake City; her daughter, Linda Floyd Miles, of Lake City; her four grandchildren, Dr. Meredith Floyd Jones (Trip), of Mt. Pleasant, Ebert Erwin Floyd, III, of Lake City, Brantley Legrand Miles (Melissa), of Lake City, and Julia Miles Ard, of Lake City; and her five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Floyd is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ebert Erwin Floyd, Sr.; and a brother, Marvin Dean Pye, Jr., of Carolina Beach, North Carolina. Graveside services for Mrs. Floyd will be held at eleven o‘clock a.m., Tuesday, February 15th, 2011, in the Lake City Memorial Park. The family will receive friends after the completion of the graveside services. The family extends special thanks to the administrative staff, nurses, and CNAs at the Lake City-Scranton Health Center for their loving care of Mrs. Floyd.
