Head-On Collision In Robeson Co. Claims The Lives Of Three People

It was reported that speed was not considered a factor and impairment was also not suspected.

Charges are pending after a fatal crash in Robeson County.

The accident happened around 3:30am on Saturday along Interstate 95 near the 5-mile marker. A Mazda SUV was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of I-95 when it collided head on with a Hyundai SUV.

The Mazda came to a stop in the road, while the Hyundai traveled off the road and caught fire. The driver of the Hyundai was identified as Anastasia Zervakis. She was taken to a hospital where she later died.

Two passengers of the Hyundai also died. The backseat passenger was identified as Gizelle Beniquez who was not properly restrained. The front-seat passenger was unable to be identified but they are being transported for examination.

The driver of the Mazda was taken to a hospital but their current condition is unknown. It was reported that speed was not considered a factor and impairment was also not suspected.
