Currie, Catherine Evans Middleton

Catherine Evans Middleton “Kitty” Currie, 75, died Friday, February 11. Kitty was born and raised in Laurinburg where she was a 1953 graduate of Laurinburg High School. She attended Flora Macdonald College and was an active member of Laurinburg Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon. She is survived by her husband, William Blue Currie; sisters, Laura Newton of Greenville, SC and Patsy Middleton of Charlotte; brother, Sam Middleton of Maxton; sisters-in-law, Pat Middleton of Maxton, Sarah Middleton of Charlotte, and Catherine Johnson of New Bern; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by their son, William Blue Currie, Jr.; and brothers, William B. Middleton, Daniel L. Middleton, Jr., and James D. Middleton; and sister, Peggy Craig. She had many wonderful friends and was an avid Bridge player for many years. She loved shopping, traveling, attending concerts, and most of all – her family. Memorials are requested for Laurinburg Presbyterian Church, 600 W. Church St., Laurinburg, NC 28352 or Hospice of Scotland County, PO Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium and at the church following the service.
