Lebanese-Born American Identified As Suspect In Jewish Synagogue Attack
No children or staff at the temple were harmed and they were safely evacuated from the synagogue.
The suspect that targeted a Jewish synagogue in Michigan has been identified.
The incident happened around 12:30pm Thursday. 41-year-old Ayman Mohamad Ghazali rammed a vehicle into Temple Israel, a large reform Jewish synagogue in West Bloomfield. He then exited the vehicle with a rifle and exchanged gunfire with armed security, who shot and killed him.
Ghazali was identified as a Lebanese-born American citizen. He reportedly targeted the Jewish community after suffering family losses in Lebanon in an Israeli attack during the ongoing conflict.
After the attack, at least eight first responders involved were treated at a hospital but their injuries are unclear. However, no children or staff at the temple were harmed and they were safely evacuated from the synagogue. An investigation is underway to learn more.
