Spirit Airlines Reaches Deal To End Bankruptcy Proceedings

Spirit Airlines has reached a deal to exit bankruptcy proceedings by the summer time.

The airline first filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in November of 2024 after unsuccessful merger talks with JetBlue and Frontier. The carrier filed for its second bankruptcy in August due to a surge in losses and decreasing cash reserves.

Now, Spirit plans to tighten its network around higher-demand periods, boosting aircraft use on peak days while reducing flights during off peak days.

The airline will still face challenges under the deal. However, it has a clearer path to survival following months of uncertainty and failed attempts
