FAA Lifts Restriction That Grounded El Paso International Airport Flights

The initial lock-down came in response to "Mexican cartel drones" that breached U.S. airspace.

The FAA has lifted a flight restriction that grounded all flights to and from El Paso International Airport in Texas.

The initial lock-down came in response to “Mexican cartel drones” that breached U.S. airspace. The FAA received a warning that the U.S. government “may use deadly force” against any aircraft in violation of the pause. That led to all flights being grounded, including commercial, cargo and general aviation.

The restriction was initially set to be effective Tuesday through next week. But the Department of War took action to disable the suspected drones. Authorities determined there was no threat to commercial travel and lifted the pause Wednesday morning.
