Those soothing sounds you use to help sleep may actually be harming your night’s rest.
Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania conducted a seven-night sleep study with 25 participants that focused on pink noise. It’s a type of ambient sound often used to help promote rest. The study showed that rem sleep decreased by an average of 19 minutes each night when sleeping participants were exposed to pink noise, such as wind, rainfall and rustling leaves.
