Deas, Edward

Mr. Edward Deas, affectionately known as “Pender”, was the son of Joseph and Lila Mae Wilson Deas, was born on January 15, 1937 in Florence, South Carolina. On Thursday, February 3, 2011, he entered into eternal rest. Edward was educated in the public schools of Florence County. He began his work career as an independent contractor (master plaster) before becoming employed with Price Pool Company for many years. Before his health declined, Edward was employed with Hines Contractors of Florence, SC. At an early age, he was converted and joined Snow Hill Baptist Church of Florence County. He was also a member of Gate City Lodge #276. Edward was united in Holy Matrimony to Nell McDonald Deas. To this union they were blessed with children and many years of love and devotion to one another. His hobbies were fishing and hunting. He leaves to cherish precious memories: a loving and devoted wife of fifty years, Nell McDonald Deas; two daughters, Carla Deas and Adria Deas-Davis; three sons, Antonio (Marie) Deas, Eric (Jeri) Deas, all of Florence, SC and Lawrence Deas of Greenville, SC; three stepdaughters, Sandra (George) Kennedy of St. Petersburg, FL; Linda (Dennis) Sullen of Florence, SC and Shirley Cameron of New York, NY; twelve grandchildren; one great grandchild; two sisters, Alice Abraham of Philadelphia, PA and Annie Swinton of Landover, MD; four brothers, Eugene (Mable) Deas of Washington, DC; Rev. Joe (Janie) Deas, Wilson (Eutelia) Deas and Herbert (Agnus) Deas, all of Florence, SC; one son-in-law, Thomas Perkins of Gaston, SC; and a host of brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends. A special thanks to his caregiver, “Jenna.” In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Shelia Deas Perkins. “Pender, Daddy” will be remembered for his warm laughter and his absolute love for his wife, children, family and friends.
