Locklear, Reedy Belle Bullard
Mrs. Reedy Belle Bullard Locklear of Maxton passed away on Friday, February 4, 2011 at the age of 72. Reedy Belle was born in Robeson County on September 2, 1938. She was the daughter of the late James L. Bullard and Mary Locklear Bullard and the beloved wife of the late Adell Locklear. She was a devoted homemaker and a retiree from Abbott Laboratories. She served as a faithful member of Shoeheel Holiness Methodist Church. Reedy loved to travel and spend time with family. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, fishing and especially playing and singing gospel music. Reedy leaves behind her children, sons, Lynn Ray Locklear, James “Oscar” Locklear, Stanley Scott and wife Barbara all of Maxton; her daughters, Carole Locklear and Sharon Locklear both of Maxton; brothers, Rev. Steve Locklear and wife Pat of Maxton, Rev. Donald Bullard and Chester Bullard both of Maxton; sisters, Ella Mae Hammonds of Maxton, Dottie Locklear of Pembroke, Elaine Strickland and husband Rev. Marshall Strickland also of Pembroke, Aberteen Hunt and husband Leslie of Red Springs; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by sons, Jadell Locklear, Roger Trent Locklear and a sister Myrna Scott. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, February 7, 2011 at the Shoeheel Holiness Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Neal Locklear and Rev. Elton Hunt. Burial will follow the service in the Church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 6th at Richard Boles Funeral Service. The family request that memorials be made in memory of Mrs. Locklear to Shoeheel Holiness Methodist Church.
