Morrison, Howard Eugene

Morrison died Saturday, February 5, 2011. Born in Chesterfield Co., SC, he was a son of the late Edward Preston and Bessie Hall Morrison. He graduated from Spartanburg Methodist College and Clemson University. Howard was employed for 32 years by the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a Soil and Water Conservation Engineer. He was a lifetime member of Prospect United Methodist Church where he served in numerous capacities. He was an active member of the McBee Masonic Lodge #313 and the Jamil Shrine Temple. Howard enjoyed his many friends and deeply loved his large extended family. After retiring he always had “Projects” in his head or hands. He traveled extensively and was an avid supporter of Clemson athletics. Surviving are his sister, Willene M. Gardner of Rock Hill, SC; brothers, Lloyd Fritz Morrison of Hartsville, SC, Robert Brooks Morrison of Hartsville, SC, Edward Harold Morrison of Monroe, GA, Bruce Homer Morrison of Charlotte, NC; He leaves several much admired and loved nieces and nephews and their spouses. He was preceded in death by his brother, Milton Leroy Morrison; sister, Bette Morrison Lysz. Graveside services with Masonic Rites for Howard Eugene “Gene” Morrison, 88, will be held at 12:00 Noon Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Prospect UMC Cemetery. The Rev. Patricia Warden will officiate the graveside service and Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home is serving the family. The family will receive friends Tuesday following the service.
