Bryant, John

John E. Bryant, age 90, passed away Saturday, February 05, 2011 at his home. Mr. Bryant was born in Darlington County, son of the late Charlie and Annie Mae Collins Bryant. He was married to the late Alice Bryant. He served his country with the United States Army during World War II and then worked in a factory most of his life. Mr. Bryant enjoyed traveling, observing nature and fishing the Pee Dee River. He was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons, Paul Bryant and his wife, Donnie of Darlington, Davy Bryant of Hartsville; daughter, Shirley O‘Neal and her husband, William of Hartsville; six grandchildren: Missy Bryant, Tina Wilson, Alice M. Bryant, Paul A. Bryant, John O‘Neal and Joseph O‘Neal; six great-grandchildren; also, a daughter-in-law, Bernice G. Bryant of Darlington. Mr. Bryant was preceded in death by sons, John W. Bryant, Todd Bryant and a number of brothers and sisters. The family will receive friends Sunday, 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home in Darlington and other times at the home of Paul Bryant, 505 N. Main Street, Darlington. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 7 at Black Creek Baptist Church with burial following in Black Creek Cemetery directed by Belk Funeral Home.
