Trump Signs Epstein Files Transparency Act

The department said it may withhold or redact the identities and personal and medical files.

President Trump signed a bill that compels the Justice Department to release all Epstein related files.

The DOJ now has 30 days to release documents related to the case. The department said it may withhold or redact the identities and personal and medical files of the convicted sex offender’s victims to protect them under law.

According to the bill, the DOJ can also withhold material that “would constitute a clearly unwarranted invasion of personal privacy” or “depicts or contains child sexual abuse.”

However, the bill does contain language that specifies, “no record shall be withheld, delayed, or redacted on the basis of embarrassment, reputational harm, or political sensitivity, including to any government official, public figure, or foreign dignitary.”
