Of those surveyed, a lot would be willing to shell out big bucks if it meant they could eat something that’s been on their bucket list of foods to try, like sushi in Tokyo, or curry in Mumbai. Respondents prefer to find “hole-in-the-wall” places when they’re traveling instead of “big-name” restaurants.
The top places to visit in the U.S. for the food are Philadelphia for a philly cheesesteak. That was closely followed by New York City for a New York–Style Pizza and Missouri and Kansas for Kansas City BBQ. Rounding out the top five was Chicago for a deep-dish pizza and central Texas for Texas BBQ.
