PAMPLICO: Mr. Harvey Edward Bailey, 76, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 22nd, 2011 after a long illness. Mr. Bailey was born in Florence County on April 29, 1934. He was a son of the late Elijah Bailey and the late Pauline Horne Bailey, and was the widower of the late Ruth Ann H. Bailey and of the late Johnnie Mae E. Bailey. Mr. Bailey was a member of Friendfield Pentecostal Holiness Church, worked for Carolina International and Five Points Garage, and served in the South Carolina Army National Guard. Mr. Bailey‘s surviving family includes his daughter, Carolyn B. Locklair, of Darlington; his four step-children, Cindy Powell, of Florence, Lisa Godwin, of Charleston, Douglas Frye, of Darlington, and Franklin Frye, of Darlington; his five siblings, Mary Ruth Staton (Jim), of Conway, Frank Bailey (Sue), of Scranton, Frances Evans, of Coward, Sherrell Evans (William), of Pamplico, and Robert Bailey (Debbie), of Florence; his five grandchildren, Rodney Stone, Casey Stone, Angie Bailey, Wayne Bailey, Jr., and Tonya Marsh, all of Darlington; and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Bailey is preceded in death by his daughter, Joyce Ann Bailey; his son, Wayne Bailey; and his three brothers, James Earl Bailey, Junior Bailey, and Billy Bailey. The family of Mr. Bailey will have visitation from six until eight o‘clock p.m., tonight, Sunday, January 23rd, 2011 in the Friendfield Pentecostal Holiness Church. Funeral services for Mr. Bailey will be held at two o‘clock p.m., Monday, January 24th, 2011 in the Friendfield Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow in the Friendfield Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery. Brockington Funeral Home, Lake City, is in charge.
