U.K. Fires Ambassador To The U.S. Over Links To Epstein

The findings revealed Mandelson expressed his support to Jeffrey Epstein even when he was facing jail for sex offenses.

U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer fired the country’s ambassador to the U.S. Wednesday.

The ousting follows the release of recent documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. The release included the publication of emails Peter Mandelson sent to Epstein in the 2000s. The findings revealed he expressed his support to the disgraced financier even when he was facing jail for sex offenses.

The emails showed that the “depth and extent” of Mandelson’s relationship with Epstein was “materially different” from what was known when he was appointed ambassador last year.

Mandelson has voiced regret over his previous links with Epstein and vowed he knew nothing about his criminal activities. However, the new found information called on the prime minister to ask the foreign secretary to withdraw Mandelson as the ambassador, removing him from the position he took on in february after an “extensive” vetting process.
