Grier, Exie Pauline

Exie Pauline McDaniel Grier, 90, a beloved mother and the widow of James Clifford Grier, went home to be with the Lord and to join her loved ones on Saturday morning, January 15, 2011, at Tidelands Community Hospice House. Mrs. Grier was born a daughter of General Lee McDaniel and Cora Elizabeth Gaskins McDaniel on September 15, 1920, in Florence, SC. She was a faithful member of the Hemingway First Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was the epitome of Proverbs 31 for her children rise and say “Blessed art thou among women.” Pauline and Clifford were married on October 8, 1938 and celebrated 51 years together. From their blessed union was born seven children, James (Wally) Grier, Joe (Jo Ann) Grier, Charles L. Grier, Sara Frances Hucks, Elizabeth Ann Wiggins, Larry Grier, and Rodney (Teresa) Grier; sixteen grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren. Also surviving are: one brother, William (Cora) McDaniel; one sister, Alene M. Stone; and a large extended family of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; two sons, Larry and Charlie; one brother, Carl McDaniel; and four sisters, Thelma McDaniel, Ola Powell, Sara McKnight, and Mildred Player. Funeral Service will be 2 PM, Tuesday, January 18, 2011, in the Hemingway First Pentecostal Holiness Church with interment in the Old Johnsonville Cemetery directed by the Hemingway Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home. The visitation will be 6-9 PM, Monday evening, January 17, 2011, in the Hemingway Chapel.
