Gainey, Gwendolyn

God looked around the garden, and found an empty space. He looked down upon the earth, and saw your tired face. He put His arms around you and lifted you to rest. God‘s garden must be beautiful, for He only takes the best. On Thursday, January 13, 2011, Mrs. Gwendolyn Ann James Gainey departed from labor to reward at McLeod Regional Medical Center after an illness. “Glenn”, as she was lovingly called, was born on November 2, 1944 in Florence, SC to Curley and Dorothy Johnson James. She was educated in the public schools of Florence County. She worked at Pee Dee Mental Retardation, now called Disability and Special Needs until she retired. Gwendolyn was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, Timmonsville, SC where she served faithfully until her health declined. On October 7, 1961, she was united in holy matrimony to John Gainey.
