Smith, Shirley Ann

Shirley Ann Cox Smith, age 74, of Lumberton, NC died on Sunday, January 9, 2011 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton. She was born in Robeson County, NC on August 8, 1936 to Roscoe Roe Cox and Vashti Fannie Burchette Cox. She previously worked as a seamstress for Jasper Mills. Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Riston B. Smith of the home; two sons, Wayne Smith and Bobby Smith and one daughter, Rita Adcox all of Lumberton, NC; two brothers, Roy Cox and James Cox of Lumberton, NC; and three grandchildren, Jonathan Adcox, Caspar Adcox and Justin Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe Roy and Vashti Fannie Burchette Cox and two brothers, Marshall Cox and Jackie Cox. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 8:00 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton, NC with Rev. Mark Meadows and Rev. Keith Eggert officiating. Visitation will be Friday evening prior to the service from 7:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude‘s Children‘s Hospital, PO Box 1893, Memphis, TN 28101.
