Robinson, Roberta Joe

In the summer of 1928 on August 22nd, Roberta entered this world to the parents of Mackie Joe and Azalee Bennett Joe. On a winter’s day, the 4th of January 2011, Roberta Joe Robinson was called by God to eternal rest. Mrs. Roberta Joe Robinson attended the public schools of Williamsburg County. She furthered her education at Morris College, Sumter, SC and in 1949; she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree. She also did graduate studies at South Carolina State University, Orangeburg, SC. She served as a dedicated teacher to the children of Marion County and Florence District Three for 40 years before retiring. She was joined in holy matrimony for 27 years to her beloved husband, Armstrong Robinson and to this union three children were born. Mrs. Robinson was a faithful and active member of Saint Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church. She served her in church in many capacities: as a member of the Stewardess Board, Treasurer of the Steward Board, Licensed Missionary auspices of the Lay Organization, Class Leader, and Pastor’s Aide Society. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her only son, Charles B. Robinson; two brothers, Burley Joe and Rembert Joe; and one sister, Ida Joe Matthews. Roberta will be remembered as a loving and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, friend and educator. Left to cherish her with precious memories are: two loving daughters, Melissa R. (Bishop Eddie) Green of the home, and Myra L. (Jimmy E.) Rainge of Florence, SC; four grandchildren, Jared Rainge, Evan Rainge, Samuel and Eddra Green; six step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; three step great great grandchildren; two brothers, Mackie Joe, Jr. and Lincoln (Nell) Joe; two sisters, Reatha Joe and Elredis Joe, all of Greeleyville, SC; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Robinson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A special thanks is extended to Angie Williams, Private Nurse; Amanda Lee, Hospice Nurse; and Jackie McKay, Hospice Medical Technician.
