CADES: Mrs. Ruth Joyce DuBose, 90, wife of the late Malery David DuBose, died Wednesday, January 5, 2011, in a Florence nursing facility after an illness. Funeral services will be at 3:00 P.M. Friday, January 7, 2011, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, 215 E. Highway 378 ByPass, Scranton, with burial in the Lake City Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Mrs. DuBose was born April 29, 1920, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late William Joseph Joyce and Myrtle Dennis Joyce. She was a member of Lake City Pentecostal Holiness Church and the Mae Wall Sunday School Class. She loved cooking, sewing and gardening, but her greatest love was her family. Surviving are her daughters: Marilyn DuBose Ward and her husband Buck W. “Buster” of Cades and Sharon DuBose Duke and her husband, James W. of Gilbert; grandchildren, Buck W. “Buddy” Ward, III, and his wife, Karen of Lake City, Brian David Ward and his wife, Lacie of Cades, Amanda Duke Walsh and her husband, Jeff, and Susan Duke White and her husband, Greg, all of Gilbert; great-grandchildren, Jordan Ward Stack and her husband, T.J. of Sumter, William Allen Ward of Lake City, Malery Lauren Ward and Lindsey Anne Ward, both of Cades, Noah Walsh, Michael Walsh and Andrew Duke, all of Gilbert. Mrs. DuBose was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Henry Joyce. Memorials may be made to: Lake City Pentecostal Holiness Church, P. O. Box 220, Lake City, SC 29560.
