On Sunday, 20-year-old Wess Roley allegedly intentionally ignited a brush fire on Canfield Mountain in attempt to lure the first responders to the scene.
Upon arrival, they were met with gunfire. Battalion Chief John Morrison and Fire and Rescue Chief Frank Harwood were killed in the shooting.
Firefighter Dave Tysdal was injured and is in stable condition following two surgeries.
The suspect’s body was discovered deceased after a six hour manhunt that involved hundreds of authorities. It is unclear at this time how he died.
