Myrtle Beach Approves First Reading Of Pelican’s Lease Ordinances
Horry County is set to pay the city $6 million to buyout out their 30%.
The Myrtle Beach City Council approved the first reading of two ordinances regarding the Pelican’s baseball ballpark lease.
The first ordinance approved Tuesday includes a lease agreement with the Pelicans. It is the same 30-year agreement the city previously passed, but as full owners.
The other ordinance focused on taking Horry County’s ownership share after the county dropped out. The county is set to pay the city $6 million to buyout out their 30%.
Despite the lease agreement calling for full ownership, city officials are asking the Pelicans to find a solution on how to handle the 30% before a special meeting next Tuesday. The city will then vote on the second and final reading.
