Quick, Virginia

Virginia S. Quick, 95, died December 26 at Hospice of Scotland County. Mrs. Quick was born in upper Marlboro County July 13, 1915, the daughter of John Boyd and Ada (Pearson) Stubbs. She was married to Douglas Quick July 30, 1930. He preceded her in death July 21, 1964. Virginia attended Boykin Elementary and Fletcher Memorial High School in Marlboro County. She was the oldest member of Tabernacle Methodist Church and a life-time member of the United Methodist Women. She is survived by three sons, William Kellon and his wife, Mary, of Detroit, Michigan and Durham, NC; Harold Francis and his wife, Ann, and Michael Douglas of Ghio. Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Stephen Quick of Arlington Heights, IL, Kathryn Davis of Asheville, David Quick of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Dr. Paul Quick of Athens, GA.; Douglas Quick of Hamlet, Tim Quick and Melissa Knight of Ghio, and Christopher Quick of Laurinburg. Also surviving are fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family requests those desiring contribute to the Virginia S. Quick Flower Fund, P O Box 271, Gibson, NC 28343. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium. A Service of Remembrance will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, January 2, at the Gibson United Methodist Chapel, officiated by her son, Dr. William K. Quick assisted by Revs. Donald Dawkins and Leon Newton. Following the service, a luncheon will be served in McKenzie Hall at the Church, where friends may greet the family. Burial is set for Monday, January 3, at 1:30 p.m. at Richmond Memorial Park in Rockingham.
