Luigi Mangione Indicted On Four Federal Charges
Mangione's charges include two counts of stalking, a firearms offense and murder through the use of a firearm.
Luigi Mangione has been indicted on four federal charges.
The 26-year-old is accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York City on December 4.
Mangione’s charges include two counts of stalking, a firearms offense and murder through the use of a firearm.
If he’s convicted, the charges would make him eligible for the death penalty. That is what the Department of Justice has been pushing for.
Mangione’s attorneys were hoping to avoid the death penalty, arguing the defendant’s due process rights were violated. They also argued that the federal government’s efforts had “corrupted” the grand jury process.
Mangione has pleaded not guilty to the 11 charges brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and the four counts he is facing in Pennsylvania.
