Gandy Jr, Marion

Gandy died Monday, December 27, 2010. Born in Hartsville, SC, he was a son of the late Marion Moore Gandy, Sr. and Alyce Byrd Gandy. He was a faithful servant and lifetime member of Wesley United Methodist Church. He graduated from Hartsville High School in 1970 and the University of South Carolina in 1974. He was a past president of the Lions Club, Home Builders Association of the Pee Dee, and South Carolina Home Builders Association. Mr. Gandy was a homebuilder and owner of Benchmark Homes Inc. and Gandy Realty Co. He was also an avid member of the Gamecock Club. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Marion Moore (Lauren) Gandy, III of Memphis, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Wallis Gandy (Nicholas) LeMasurier of Charleston, SC; sister, Alyce Dell Gandy of Hartsville, SC; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harry James (Debra) Gandy of Boone, NC, Jamie Byrd (Sheila) Gandy of Hartsville, SC; beloved companion, Sobie Soles Dixon of Hartsville, SC. Funeral services for Marion Moore “Bud” Gandy, Jr., 58, will be held at 11:00 Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Wesley United Methodist Church. The Rev. Fran Elrod will officiate with burial in Magnolia Cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.
