Shepard, Francis

Francis M. Shepard of Wilmington died Sunday December 26, 2010 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Life Care Center. He was born February 6, 1927 in Florence County SC son of the late Willie and Rosalee Shepard and was preceded in death by his brothers Carl Shepard, David Shepard and Don Shepard. Mr. Shepard was a member of Ogden Baptist Church, a veteran of the US Navy having served in WWII and retired from JC Penney. Surviving is his wife of 63 years Opal Langston Shepard of Wilmington and a sister Betty Atkinson of SC, numerous friends and extended family. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home, Lamar. Burial will follow in Lamar Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Ogden Baptist Church 7121 Market St Wilmington NC 28411 or to Lower Cape Fear Hospice 1414 Physicians Dr Wilmington NC 28401.
