Second American Company Lands Spacecraft On The Moon

The goal is to send astronauts to the moon as early as 2027 under NASA's Artemis Campaign.

Firefly Aerospace is now the second American company to land a spacecraft on the moon.

The Texas-based company was hired by NASA to carry a fleet of scientific instruments to the moon’s Earth-facing side to study its environment.

The uncrewed lander, dubbed Blue Ghost, made its touch down early Sunday on the lunar surface after over six weeks traveling millions of miles through the cosmos.

The landing was made just four days ahead of the planned arrival of a second uncrewed American spacecraft named Athena, built and operated by Intuitive Machines.
