Lsupport.On Friday, December 17th, 2010, God called the roll. Manuel Alston heard his name, answered and took His hand. Mr. Manuel Alston was born on April 27, 1952 in Florence, South Carolina to Margaret Jordan McCall. He was also reared in Florence by the late McKenzie and Mattie Alston. “Bobby”, as he was affectionately called, moved to Winston-Salem, NC at an early age where he was reared by his aunt, Rose C. Thomas. He attended the public schools in Winston-Salem, NC and graduated from Bishop McGennius High School, Winston-Salem, NC. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country honorably. After service, “Bobby” was employed at the Florence Post Office and with the Veterans Affairs Medical Center Barbershop in Hampton, VA. “Bobby” never met a stranger. He loved model cars and was very compassionate about fishing. He loved to fish, fishing was his joy! Survivors are: one son, Manuel L. Alston of Winston-Salem, NC; two daughters, Stacey R. Alston and Crystal M. Alston of Winston-Salem, NC; five grandchildren; two stepsons, Jeffery and Jerry Stallings of Wake Forest, NC; seven sisters, Gail (Bennie) Gregg of Effingham, SC; Veronica (Louis) Eaddy of Timmonsville, SC; Cynthia McCall of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Tabetha McCall of Darlington, SC; Alice Bethea, Linda Mack and Julie (David) Dargan, all of Florence, SC; two brothers, Roy McCall and David (Gwen) McCall, both of Florence, SC; three uncles, Leroy (Debra) Jordan of Florence SC; Timothy (Barbara) McCall of Virginia Beach, VA, and Rufus McCall of Fredericksburg, VA; nine aunts, Rose C. Thomas of Winston-Salem, NC; Alice Samuel, Neverseen (Stanley) Davis, Pricillia (Marion) Ford, Eunice McCall, Sadie Jordan, Georgenna McCall, all of Florence, SC; Louise (Lewis) Talley of Richmond, VA, and Linda Turner of Meriden, CT; one sister-in-law, Pearl C. McCall of Darlington, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wildea Joyce Stallings Alston; and three brothers, Michael Jordan, Johnny McCall, and Lawrence Jordan.
