MLB Set To Test Automated Ball-Strike System During Pre-Season

The technology will monitor each pitch location relative to the strike zone for each batter.

Major League Baseball is set to launch testing of a new system.

The Automated Ball-Strike system will be used in spring training games to help decide if it’s ready to be used in the future.

Umpires will call balls and strikes on pitches as usual. However, the technology will monitor each pitch location relative to the strike zone for each batter.

The system will be tested throughout 13 pre-season ballparks.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs will faceoff in Glendale, Arizona. That will be the first game ABS will be tested.
